Llys Dymper - Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey and National Vegetation Classification Survey

Client: Ecology Matters

Marches Ecology completed a botanical survey of land to the west of Llyn Brenig, Conwy.  The survey included identifying and mapping the location of National Vegetation Classification (NVC) community types within the Mynydd Hiraethog Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).  A total of 14 NVC communities or sub-communities were recorded from the acid grassland and mire habitat present.  Coping with wind and heavy rain whilst surveying this remote area proved a challenge, but we were rewarded with fantastic panoramas of Snowdonia when the clouds parted.  This project provided a valuable opportunity to study upland habitat in this protected site with highlights including Viviparous Lizard, Lesser Clubmoss (a Locally Rare plant) and six species of Locally Scarce plant including Bog Rosemary and Cowberry.
