Axis II (Glastir) Monitoring and Evaluation Programme - Pollinator Surveys

Client: Butterfly Conservation Wales

Marches Ecology completed transect surveys for various pollinator species/ species groups in randomly selected 1 km squares across north Wales. The transects utilised the Wider Countryside Butterfly Survey (WCBS) method for butterflies, but also recorded functional groups for bumblebees, hoverflies and solitary bees along with floral assessment. The purpose of the project is to provide scientifically-rigorous monitoring and evaluation of the Glastir land management scheme. The project was led by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology on behalf of Welsh Government.
