Proposed Economic Development Site, Wrexham

Client: Wrexham County Borough Council

Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) of a proposed economic development site extending to 27 hectares on the western edge of Wrexham. The proposal concerns a mixed use development (employment and residential) along with the associated primary infrastructure and improvements to the adjacent trunk road junctions. Detailed surveys included botanical, Otters, Water Voles, Great Crested Newts, reptiles, bats, Badgers and breeding birds. An Otter Reasonable Avoidance Measures Method Statement was produced and agreed with the Countryside Council for Wales to inform initial site clearance works. An Ecological Mitigation Strategy and an Ecological Management Plan were produced for the site. Ecological advice to inform the decision-making process was provided throughout the project. Part of the project was awarded an 'excellent' rating in accordance with the CEEQUAL process.
